I overdosed on this show last week. I was looking for something to put on in the background so I loaded up iplayer and stuck this on, having read a few lines on it in last weeks paper. Kill It, Cook It, Eat It’s premise is simple – 9 people from different walks of life with very different outlooks on eating meat, animals in general and what you should and shouldn’t do are asked to hunt, kill and eat the animal peculiar to the episode. In the current series they’ve boiled bunnies, quacked ducks and erm… shot deer. While the conversations between the guests are interesting yet predictable the production values are glossy but simple – it all reminded me of the apprentice and umpteen other shows with people being ushered about to e.g. “the gun room” so it feels like everyone’s been on a journey by the end of it. However, the real enjoyment came from my own take on proceedings. Sometimes I’d nod, sometimes
I’d cringe – the skinning of animals can be graphic and the show holds no punches. We see rabbits necks being snapped by amateurs, twitches as their nerves conk out after death and no small amount of blood. As a meat-eater, it did make me question whether I’d be man enough to go and shoot an animal, skin it, cook and eat it, which of course is the point. To be honest, I’m not sure I would. I like the fact that someone else gets the blood and guts over them and not me. Overall, a decent show and a definite conversation/fall out point!

I watched a nice little film called Kinky Boots earlier, staring Chiwetel Ejiofor. No, I don’t know how to say that either but he’s very talented (see this, Serenity or Dirty Pretty Things if you don’t believe me). He’s also very diverse. Here’s a little ditty featured in the movie:
