Visionary director Luc Besson said he’d make 10 films and then give up. The last film that he helmed came out in 2006 and was based on his series of children’s books. The Big Blue and Atlantis were inspired by a childhood spent following his scuba-diving folks around while films like Leon and Nikita dealt with strong female leads, the latter spawning five seasons worth of an American tv show. While Besson has produced many, many films (most recently the highly successful Liam Neeson revenge romp ”Taken”) those movies he had complete control over shine out most prominently. Over the coming weeks I will look at a selection of his personal works. See below for the full list.
