Noir Bites – Gilda (1946)
Rita Hayworth eats up the screen as Gilda, a fabulously headstrong and beautiful woman who lives to have fun and has more male admirers than Charles Manson has denied paroles.
Luc Besson: A filmography
Visionary director Luc Besson said he’d make 10 films and then give up. The last film that he helmed came out in 2006 and was based on his series of children’s books. The Big Blue and Atlantis were inspired by a childhood spent following his scuba-diving folks around while films like Leon and Nikita dealt with strong female leads, the latter spawning five seasons worth of an American tv show. While Besson has produced many, many films (most recently the highly successful Liam Neeson revenge “Taken”) those which he had complete control over shine out most prominently. Over the coming weeks I will look at a selection of his personal works. See below for the full list.

I like both of these sea tales for different reasons, despite the fact that the latter had the cack kicked out of it.
