Doctor Who: Series 5 Preview – BBC One
On the 3rd April 2010 we’ll see a brand new Doctor, brand new writer and a brand new logo (audible groans). I hope it’ll be OK, like I hoped it’d still be OK when I first saw Tennant’s manic grin and it was. Of course it helped that after coming out of a coma in his first full-length episode he quoted the Lion King and kicked an arse/skull-faced alien loon into oblivion.
The Deal (2003)
I was having a look at the new film in the so-called “Blair trilogy” comprising of The Deal, The Queen and The Special Relationship (2010), which’ll hit cinemas sometime this year (yes, that was vague). Anyway, you can watch The Deal on Youtube, or easier still, by playing the parts below. Well worth a watch in my opinion, for me it’s a bit of a history lesson in political events that quite went over my head because at the time I was too wee to care about that sort of thing.
ABC Studios’ hit police drama, Castle, coming to Alibi
Richard “Rick” Castle and Detective Kate Beckett first cross paths when Castle is investigated by the NYPD when a murder victim matches the description of a victim in one of his best-selling novels. At the time of the investigation Castle is suffering a bad case of writer’s block. Inspired by his run-in with the beautiful Beckett and through his connections with the Mayor he gets permission to hang out as a consultant at the precinct to do research for his next book. Beckett is initially horrified by the idea of castle tagging along but as time progresses a chalk-and-cheese crime-solving duo are born.
The Fleet
Liked Alan Partridge? And loved the Office? Then you better watch out for The Fleet: The Funny Side of Fleet Management.
The Fleet is an online sitcom about the fortunes of working at the small size logistics supplier ‘Lightfoot Logistics’, where fleet manager Pete is surrounded by his dysfunctional colleagues. Not so funny is Mr. Thompson, proud owner of a van with class leading headlight and not much else. Or van driver Ben, who couldn’t even find the way out of his own front door if it wasn’t for a Sat Nav. Meanwhile, salesman Jay sums up all that’s bad in sales: he’s inexperienced, under prepared and more than rude. Can Pete manage this odd assortment of characters all the while preparing for his much hyped ‘half’ marathon?
Castle
Today I got word of a US drama coming to the UK. I don’t recall hearing the name Castle before but one of the leads is Nathan Fillion of Firefly and Desperate Housewives fame, which to me means it’s probably worth a watch!
