First of all, please check out my friend’s submission video for The Best Job In The World. Share it, rate it and if possible, help her get the job! She’s a good friend and I know she’d do an excellent job.
Apologies for not making an update in almost a week, but a lot’s been going [...]

Well the Oscar nominations are out. I’m not going to go through the whole list (which you can see here), but here’s my outlook. Slumdog and Danny Boyle have been nominated for 11. I really hope they get some of these as Danny Boyle deserves awards and the cast were superb. I’d love Boyle to pick up best director and Slumdog to get best picture. Also, It’d be only fair for Mickey Rourke to get best actor for The Wrestler. I’m suprised Downey Jr’s got a nomination as best supporting actor for Project Thunder but he’s awesome and played a very funny character. Heath should (and probably will) get it for The Dark Knight though. I’ve yet to watch a lot of the nominated films (quite a few aren’t out here in the UK yet, like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Milk).

Finally Danny Boyle is getting the recognition he deserves (again). Slumdog Millionaire, his brand new film (out today here in the UK) is considered by many to be a return to form – back to his glory days of Trainspotting. For me though, Danny Boyle never left. 28 Days Later alone is a highly-emulated and generally respected piece in its genre, which can’t be easy when you’re doing horror, which is very rarely seen as anything but gory exploitative trash.

Aren’t Orange Wednesday’s good? Especially when you go and see something funny and engaging which takes you out of yourself for a couple of hours.
Tropic Thunder has a brilliant ensemble cast and features one of my favourite actors, Robert Downey Jr. It pays homage to films like Platoon and Apocalypse Now, and it is laugh-out-loud funny.
