Damn good Television #2

The first episode of the second season aired Sunday night in the UK. It has gone from being superb to something even better. Now we know the characters we’re thrown into the deep end with several plot threads running at once. Despite this, I feel like I can keep track far better than I could with the first season.

Interesting new additions to the cast show just how good it is – William Hurt appears as Daniel Purcell, a man who has discovered his company has caused deaths and is an old acquaintance of Patty’s (Glenn Close). Timothy Oliphant Wes Krulik, a vengeful member of the support group Ellen Parsons has started going to. Also, Ted Danson returns as the spineless Arthur Frobisher. It’d be silly to take any of these characters at face value if season one of Damages and its twisty-turny plot are anything to go by.

The Thirty Nine Steps

I’ve decided to create a new site separate from Dwardus Prime to function as a more professional portfolio for my designs and whatnot. It’ll probably be a bit of time before you can actually see any evidence of it, but I’ll drop a link (or two) when it’s online. I’ve decided I want to make the design very film noiry, and the sites banner will have a backdrop depicting the London skyline. Big Ben was the obvious choice for one of the buildings and I think I might even try to draw in a man hanging off one of the hands.

Cowards on BBC4

I’m working backwards on this comedy because I watched the latest episode (episode 3) on iPlayer with my breakfast on the off chance it might be good. Having not heard about it I was very pleasantly surprised, the sketches are diverse and sometimes outlandish, but really quite funny. In the latest episode (all three are available on iPlayer, if like me, you missed them) they have a Crufts party and an animated Martin Clunes turns up to ask his neighbours to the park. If I was to compare it to previous sketch shows, I’d probably pick on Big Train and Modern Toss. Here’s what the BBC have to say:
